“Dad, you are my Ironman”
Moises Herrezuelo Lopez is an informatics’ engineer from Madrid and a triathlete. He has registered for Ironman Lanzarote 2007…
But first of all, Moises is Dorjee Khampa’s father, a 10 year old boy who was born with Muscular Dystrophy. Dorjee was born in 1997, the year Moises had planned to race the Ironman Lanzarote, but then his plans and priorities changed…
What other kids perform easily, always results to be a big challenge to Dorjee. The development in the daily life for a kid with Muscular Dystrophy means overcome barriers, such as permanent tiredness, view problems, breathing difficulties, late pronunciation of even the small words Dad or Mum, he never crawled…and standing up was a real performance.
And what is a challenge for other kids…results to be natural and easy for Dorjee: big heart and a considerable internal strength.
Dorjee is joyful and has a big heart, the spirit of a fighter.. Dorjee Khampa (The Diamond Soldier) was given his name by his holiness the Dalai Lama months before his birth. In Tibet its meaning is the symbol of the Tireless Fighter, the Soldier of Truth. What a paradox! Even his name renders him Justice.
One day, Moises told Dorjee about these extraordinary people, these Ironman athletes, who fulfil their dreams, showed him a video, and Dorjee said:
- “Dad, You are my Ironman”
They looked at each other, hugged, and with his eyes filled with tears of joy, Moises promised to give these words a meaning. He would be Dorjee’s Ironman.
It is now 2007 and the time has come to be part of the Ironman Legend: Moises will be at the start line of Ironman Lanzarote next 19 May, for and because of his champion, Dorjee Khampa!
For and because of his son, but also for and because of Pegaso, his trainer, who left us few days ago and whose memories will accompany Moises along the 226 km. of Ironman Lanzarote Canarias Triathlon...
