XV Ironman Lanzarote Canarias Triathlon…
next 20 May

Just 3 months ahead of the 15 th edition of Ironman Lanzarote,
782
athletes have entered…

Kai Hundertmarck registers for Ironman Lanzarote 2006. He is one of the 776 registered athletes so far, as the field keeps growing.

Kai did register last year, but was injured only few days before the race and had to withdraw. He will be back on 20 May, for the 15 th edition of our Ironman Lanzarote race.

Kai Hundertmarck, born on 25 April 1969, stopped racing as a Pro cyclist in 2003, alter 13 years in different teams, nine if which with TeleKom.

During these years, he took the start at one Tour de France, six Vueltas a España and four Giros d'Italia.

From the Pro Cycling, Kai came straight into Pro triathlon, or more precisely, Ironman.

During his first year of Ironman, in 2004, he raced in Ironman Germany and finished 11th, obtaining his age group spot for the World Championship in Hawaii. There again, he made a great finish: 11 th with a time of 9:19:38 (35-39 Age Group Winner)

Kai Hundertmarck in Hawai 2004

Last 27 November, at the "Ironman Western Australia 2005" Kai finished 19th in 9:16:10. Worth mentioning was his bike segment where he had the second best time, only the overall winner having a better one.

So, here on Lanzarote, will Kai manage to beat his land mates Steffen Liebetrau and former Hawaii winner Thomas Hellriegel on the bike course?
