Josele & Maria want to cross the Ironman Lanzarote 2008 finish line!

The Ironman Lanzarote Triathlon Organization is happy to introduce some athletes personal stories, worth to know.

Today, we present you Josele - José Carlos Ferre Pérez, a Spanish triathlete, from Valencia. He will come to Lanzarote with his wife and his two daughters, 9 year-old María and 5 year-old Cristina.

At the age of two, Maria was diagnosed a rare disease, the Rett Syndrome. So far she had been speaking, walking, catching thins with her hands, doing everything normal children do, but from that moment on, she lost all those abilities, exchanging them for epileptic seizures, distonia and a long list of other symptoms. She was declared 87 percent disable. The disease has no cure, but her family and friends do every possible thing to make her life as pleasant as possible.

One of these things they know she loves is to run with her dad. So, Josele tries to train his running sessions with her; he has even run a full marathon with her, without being able to cross the finish line though, because the referees wouldn't let him. (http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=KA0lg46IP9M)

So, though the Ironman Lanzarote race course characteristics won't allow him to run the marathon with Maria, this time Josele has proposed himself to cross the Ironman Lanzarote finish line - he calls it the most beautiful line he knows - together with Maria.
And we will all be there to support them!!
