The Ironman of Lanzarote will also be both Canarian and Iberic Championship of Long Distance Triathlon giving the Canary Islanders the opportunity to win a local title and to Spanish and Portuguese nationals to become Iberic Champion.

Only 2 months to go for Ironman Lanzarote Canarias Triathlon –  22 May 2004!

For this 13th edition of our race, we are on the good way to break participation records again: 535 triathletes have entered the race so far, from 36 different countries. Among them, 21 will race in the PRO category, trying to win this race.

The elite so far include:

Luc Van Lierde , Belgium, 2 times Ironman World Champion (Hawaii, 1996 and 1999),  ITU World Champion in 1998, Ironman Malaysia Champion in 2003 and 2004.

Félix Javier Martínez Rubio , Spain, 2 times Winner in Embrun and 3rd at Ironman Lanzarote 2003. 

Garrett Macfadyen , Canada, Ironman Canada 2002 Champion.

Gerrit Schellens , Belgium, 4th at Ironman Lanzarote 2003, run course record at Ironman Lanzarote.

Ain-Alar Juhanson , Estonia, 5the at Ironman Lanzarote 2003.

Julian Jenkinson , Great Britain, still the fastest British triathlete

and women:

Gillian Bakker , Canada, Ironman Canada Champion 2001, 2nd in Lanzarote 2002 and 1st in IM Malaysia 2003.

Julie Bollerup Hansen , Denmark, 5th at Ironman Austria 2003, 4th at IM Austria 2002.
