Swim Course
New start of Ironman Lanzarote Swim:
For safety reasons we will have a different start procedure for the 2007 Ironman Lanzarote start.
The reason is that the first corner buoy in the swim course is very close to the coast/beach.
With this new start it is our hope athletes avoid the big battle around the first corner buoy, so all the athletes have a smooth start for the long day. It would be sad for an athlete to be kicked in the face or body and to have to stop after very few minutes of the race start.
Therefore GO INTO THE RIGHT GROUP: THE GROUP IS YOUR FINISH SWIM TIME.
YOUR SWIM START GROUP IS WHAT YOU EXPECT YOUR SWIM FINISH TIME TO BE!
Ironman Lanzarote procedure:
We will have ONE START, so all athletes will have the same start time.
We will divide the beach in 3 sections.
In front of the beach the PRO athletes.
Behind the GREEN Club La Santa start tower ONLY swimmers who expect their swimming time to be UNDER 65 minutes.
Behind the YELLOW Club La Santa start tower all other swimmers who would like to have a safer and quieter swim start.

Run Course
The run course is made of 4 X 10 km loops along the coast of Puerto del Carmen, the turn point being close to the Beatriz Playa Hotel. After each loop, the athletes receive a necklace. So the press, organisation and spectators can distinguish them on their different loops, and see who is due to reach the finish.
The first triathlete will start the Marathon course around 12:50 and. will reach the 5 km. turn point at approx. 13:10, be half run course around 14:15.
A crowd of approximately 10.000 people will welcome the first finishing Ironman in Puerto del Carmen around 3.30 pm, after a race of approximately 8 hrs 30 min. The record to beat was set by the German Thomas Hellriegel in 1995. It took him 8:35:40.
